The MONSTER experiment installed for the first time at ALTO

After an extensive period of mechanical preparation, the implementation of safety protocols and the restoration of equipment following the October flood, the 39 detectors of the MONSTER (MOdular Neutron SpectromeTER) experiment, developed by the CIEMAT, have been installed, aligned and wired in the dedicated structure located in room 110, the room where the low-energy radioactive beams arrive. Currently, all sections from the target ion source system are under vacuum and the stable beam has already been delivered to the identification beam line. The lasers schemes are currently being optimized to test the ionization of zinc and gallium this week. The experiment is scheduled to take place in 12 days.
